The
INTERNATIONAL MEETING ON RESEARCH ADVANCES IN RABIES CONTROL IN THE
AMERICAS", is an annual meeting that has been held since 1990
in the USA, Canada and Mexico, including Peru (2000), Republica Dominicana
(2004) and Brasil (2006). The meeting has allowed, researchers, directors
of national and municipal programs, laboratory workers, and in general
all those involved in rabies surveillance, prevention and control
to come together.
The presentations
are a result of the of the efforts of countless investigators, students
and operative personnel, who work with this disease on a daily basis,
and who willingly share their experiences with the collaborative
spirit needed to fight this terrible disease which the world has
known for too long.
We hope that
the new findings reported in this international meeting will result
in elimination of this disease, to the benefit of the communities
in our countries, also, celebrating this event in Guanajuato offers
an opportunity to know and to coexist within a cultural atmosphere,
the " International Cervantino Festival".
